HELENA — Butte runner Lance Oswald placed fifth among men in the full marathon of the Governor’s Cup race Saturday.
The 41-year-old Oswald finished the 26.2-mile race in 3 hours, 19 minutes, 46 seconds. That time narrowly missed qualifying Oswald for the Boston Marathon.
Bozeman’s Christian Heck, 26, won the race in 2:48:52.
Former Butte High wrestling coach Kevin Parvinen, 45, placed 17th in 3:52:04.
Butte’s Chris Tippett, 57, placed 12th among men with a 1:34:05 time in the half marathon. Helena’s Bryan Johnson, 37, won that race in 1:23:12.
In the 10-kilometer race, Butte’s Cara Whitlock, 39, placed fourth among all women runners with a time of 45 minutes, 10 seconds. Butte’s Jeff Braun, 49, placed sixth among men in 37:52.
Local running coach Nicole Hunt, 43, of Deer Lodge, won the 5-kilometer race in 18:47. Butte’s Elise Kilmer, 24, placed fifth in 22:52.
