FARMINGTON, Utah — The Big Sky Conference announced its 2020 Winter All-Academic teams for men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s indoor track & field today, and graduates from Butte Central and Butte High made the grade.
The list of 481 student-athletes honored includes former Montana State freshman Lindsay McGree and University of Montana junior Abby Dodge. Both Butte natives earned the honors while competing in indoor track.
McGree is a Butte Central graduate who makes the grade for the first time as a true freshman. Dodge earned the academic honors for the third time.
The 481 honorees recognized for the winter season is the fourth most in league history. It marked the sixth straight year with 400 or more honorees and the fourth consecutive with 475 or more honorees.
There were 337 student-athletes that registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, while 37 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA. Men’s basketball continued its upward trend setting a new high of 38 student-athletes earning all-academic accolades.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and/or track & field student-athletes may be considered if they have competed at the indoor conference championships. 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.
