MISSOULA — Butte High wrestlers Keagan Gransbery and Kameron Moreno captured second place Saturday at the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic at the Missoula Sentinel gym.
Gransbery, a sophomore, placed second at 103 pounds, while Moreno, a junior, finished runner up 205 pounds.
At 103, Gransbery suffered his first loss of the season, falling in a 4-3 thriller to Mick Chagnon of Havre in the championship match. The loss dropped Gransbery to 25-1 on the season.
The title match loss came after Gransbery beat Lander Stewart of Frenchtown 7-4 in the semifinals.
Moreno fell 9-4 in the championship match to Ben Voightlaende of Mead, Washington. That came after Moreno topped Zane McCormick of Helena Capital 9-2 in the semifinals.
In all, four Bulldogs placed in the top eight. Carl Anderson took seventh at 160 pounds, while Quinn Sullivan finished eighth at 170.
As a team, Butte High tied for seventh place at 118 points with Powell, Wyoming. Mead won with 201 points. Bozeman finished a close second at 199.5.
Great Falls High took third at 165. The Bison were followed by Havre at 124, Frenchtown at 1225 and Missoula Big Sky/Loyola at 121.
