Butte’s Bob Beers set to join Montana Football Hall

The streak of one Butte guy in the Montana Football Hall of Fame Class will continue next March.

Butte’s Bob Beers will join the list of Montana football immortals when the Montana Hall of Fame inducts the Class of 2020 in March.

The Hall of Fame began with the Class of 2016, when Butte legend Sonny Holland was enshrined. In 2017, Butte native Bob O’Billovich joined the Hall. He was joined by Butte natives Sam Jankovich in 2018 and Sonny Lubick in 2019.

All-American linebacker for the Grizzlies, Beers got his coaching career at Butte Central. He led the Maroons from 1974 through 1976.

An Oregon native, Beers has retired to the Mining City after a long, successful career in football. He coached at Montana Tech and was head coach at Montana Western. He also coached with the Grizzlies and in the Arena Football League.

Beers served as an NFL scout for the Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans. He coached in the Montana East-West Shrine Game in 1975.

Other members of the Montana Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020 are former Ken Amato, Brent Musburger, Dan Carpenter, Marty Mornhinweg, Shane William Collins, Steve Okoniewski, Travis Lulay and Victor Lindskog.
