BREMERTON, Wash. — Butte’s Bryon Baker delivered for the Kitsap BlueJackets in more ways than one Friday night.
Baker was the winning pitcher in Kitsap’s 7-6 won over the Klamath Falls Gems in the opener of the West Coast League. He entered the game in the ninth inning and struck out two batters.
The BlueJackets then rallied for two runs in the ninth for a walk-off victory.
Baker struck out the “burrito batter,” which won every person in the ballpark a burrito as part of an in-game promotion. He also picked up the team’s ninth strikeout, which won everyone in the crowd a bottle of Pepsi.
Then, Baker signed autographs for appreciative fans.
Baker, a former Butte Miner, just completed his freshman season at MSU Billings. He signed to play with the BlueJackets last fall.
The West Coast League is a summer league similar to the Cape Cod League, where professional scouts frequent to get a look at potential future draft picks.
