GREAT FALLS — Butte has a state champion soccer team.
The Mining City FC U14 boys’ team went undefeated and won their bracket at the Montana Cup over the weekend. The Montana Cup is the state tournament put on by Montana Youth Soccer at the end of the spring season each year.
Butte beat the Helena Arsenal 3-1 and the Stevensville Sabres 3-2 on Saturday, overcoming halftime deficits in each win. The Butte boys doubled up Helena 4-2 in the championship game on Sunday.
Team members are Fabian Thompson, Liam Tauscher, Evan Klamp, Palmer Kellicut, Cian Irons, Ziggy Okrusch, Hunter Lapier, Liam Boese, Valentino Riojas, Leo Harrington, Aiden Maesar, Eddie Panisko, Daniel Schaible, Johan Thieszen, Timothy Revenaugh, Graham Shaible, Howie Pearston, Braden Harrison and Josh Schrader.
The team is coached by Amanda Marinovich, Adam Colvin and Mike Maesar.
