Butte track stars shine, Big Sky teams win triangular

Butte athletes won 12 events, but Missoula Big Sky was the team winner in both boys’ and girls’ competition in a triangular track meet held Thursday at Bulldog Memorial Stadium in the Gene Fogarty Sports Complex on the East Middle School campus.
Running events were contested on the Charlie Merrifield Track within the facility.
Butte High had a pair of double-winners in sprinter Rueso Batterman and leaper Sam Henderson while Butte Central javelin ace Ella Moodry set a new personal record. Her mark was 138 feet, 5 inches. The Maroon senior is a University of Montana track signee and has won two state Class A javelin championships.
Big Sky topped the boys’ standings with 99 ½ points while Butte High was second with 77 ½ and Butte Central third with four. The girls’ scoring saw Big Sky with 111 ½ points, Butte High 50 ½ and Butte Central putting up 13.
Battermann won the boys’ 100-meter dash in 11.41 seconds and the 200 in 23.31. The senior sprinter has signed a football agreement with Montana Western. Henderson, a junior, cleared 6-0 to win the high jump and sprang a first-place 45-1 in the triple jump.
Butte High’s other winners in the boys’ events were the 400-relay “B” team in 44.08; Karson Pumnea, 12-6 in the pole vault; Cohen Andrews, 20-4 in the long jump; Brett Polich, 47-11 in the shot put and Kyler Stenson, 146-7 in the discus.
The Butte High girls got first places from the 1,600-meter relay team, 4:26.24; Payton Trabert, 9-0 in the pole vault; and Selene Morrell, 99-7 in the discus.
The other place-winners for Butte High in the boys’ meet were Henderson, 15.23 for third in the 110-meter hurdles; Nolan Casey, 11.54 for second in the 100 and 23.96 for third in the 200; Trey Hansen, 23.80 for second in the 200 and 11.68 for fourth in the 100; Camden Houchin, 4:56.23 for third in the 1,600; Will Taylor, 19-11 for second in the long jump and 54.82 for third in the 400; David Stone, 2:23.97 for second in the 800; The Butte “F” 1,600-meter relay team, 3:42.94 for second; Ryan Hanson, 5-10 for second in the high jump; Mason Leber, 11-0 for third in the pole vault; Jacob Galle, 24.23 for fourth in the 200; Andrews, 40-3 ¾ for fourth in the triple jump; Riley Tutty, 116-4 for fourth in the discus; Stenson, 41-8 for fourth in the shot put; and Braydon Pierce, 139-8 for third in the javelin.
The other Butte High girl place-winners were Cadence Graham, 17.93 for second in the 100-meter hurdles and 50.43 for second in the 300-meter hurdles; Aleia Morrell, 13.63 for second in the 100 and 28.60 for third in the 200; the 400-meter relay team, 52.53 for second place; Kellie Carpenter, 2:49.03 for second in the 800; Sophia Fladager, 3:10.67 for third in the 800; Chelsi Lyons, 4-6 for third in the high jump and 13-7 ¼ for third in the long jump; Macy Seaholm, 7-6, to tie Lilli Holden of Big Sky for third in the pole vault; Allie Ballensky, 83-11 for fourth in the discus; Brityn Stewart, 106-5 for second in the javelin; and Jaycee Cleveland, 89-7 for third in the discus; and Selene Morrell, 84-6 for fourth in the javelin; Mylee Demarais, 29-1 for second in the shot put; and Amelia Fladager, 27-0 for fourth in the shot put.
Butte Central place-winners were: Caden Tippett, 28-3 for third in the girls’ shot put; Zane Moodry, 41.97 for second in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles; James Holmes, 2:27.61 for fourth in the boys’ 800; Kherington Adams, 6:32.19 for third in the girls’ 1,600; Rylee Forbes, 1:13.47 for fourth in the 400; and Ella Moodry, 27.80 for second in the girls’ 200.
The Big Sky boys who won events were Oliver Simianer, 14.83 in the 110-meter hurdles and 39.77 in the 300-meter hurdles; Isaiah Cowan, 4:32.23 in the 1,600; Adam Guajardo, 51.75 in the 400; Liam Gale, 2:12.95 in the 800; Garrett Cleveland, 11:18.11 in the 3,200; the 1,600-meter relay team, 3:34.62; and Tristan Hiller, 158-4 in the javelin.
The Eagles’ girl athletes who won were Svetlana Simonovich, 31-0 in the shot put; Gracelee Banna, 16.22 in the 100-meter hurdles and 49.25 in the 300-meter hurdles; Brooklyn Ludeman, 12.94 in the 100 and 27.57 in the 200; Ali Schowengerdt, 5:41.74 in the 1,600; the 400-meter relay B team, 51.25; Nya Myers, 1:06.09 in the 400; Lillian Branch, 2:42.03 in the 800; Reagan Tingley, 14:42.20 in the 3,200; Isabella Russoniello, 4-8 in the high jump; Isabella Grutsch, 14-11 ¾ in the long jump and 34.8 ½ in the triple jump.
