BUTTE — When Butte Central needed a spark, sophomore quarterback Noah Sutton delivered a record-setting night.
Sutton is the Butte Sports Athlete of the Week after throwing six touchdown passes in the Maroons’ 54-0 Homecoming victory over Ronan Friday night at Bob Green Field.
The left-handed sophomore completed 15 of 17 passes for 247 yards, finding the end zone six times while helping Central break into the win column after opening the season with two losses.
More importantly, Sutton put his name in the Butte Central record book.
His six touchdown passes established a new single-game school record, breaking the previous mark of five.
Sutton wasted little time getting started, connecting with his older brother Joshua for a long touchdown early in the game. From there, the sophomore continued spreading the football around as the Maroons took complete control.
Two of Sutton’s touchdown passes went to GG Fantini, two went to Henly Mansanti and two went to Joshua Sutton.
By halftime, Central had built a commanding lead, and the Maroons eventually walked away with the 54-point shutout.
For a sophomore quarterback still early in his varsity career, Sutton’s performance was more than just a big night in a big win. It was a glimpse of what could be ahead for the young Maroon signal caller.
Six touchdowns. A school record. A Homecoming victory.
That makes Noah Sutton the Butte Sports Athlete of the Week.
