BUTTE — Miner Lee put on a show under the Friday night lights at Naranche Stadium, and the Butte High standout is this week’s Butte Sports Athlete of the Week.

With Little Guy Night bringing plenty of young Bulldogs to the stadium and Butte High playing its home opener on the new Naranche turf, Lee gave them something to remember.

Lee carried the ball 26 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Bulldogs’ ground attack in a convincing 38-15 victory over the Billings Skyview Falcons.

It wasn’t just the numbers, either. Lee ran with patience when he needed it, hit the hole with authority and consistently kept the Bulldogs moving forward. When Butte needed tough yards, No. 8 delivered. When the end zone was within reach, he found pay dirt.

Lee’s performance helped fuel a Butte rushing attack that piled up 281 yards on 47 carries. The Bulldogs finished with 390 yards of total offense as the offensive line opened lanes and Butte controlled the game on the ground.

Quarterback Raeder Grey complemented the rushing attack by throwing for 105 yards and two touchdowns, but Lee was the workhorse who kept the Skyview defense on its heels throughout the night.

For the Little Guys watching from the stands, it was the kind of performance every young Bulldog dreams about someday delivering on that same field.

Three trips to pay dirt. More than 150 yards on the ground. A home-opening victory at Naranche.

For his huge night in Butte High’s 38-15 win over Skyview, Miner Lee is the Butte Sports Athlete of the Week.

I can also make the Facebook post announcing Lee as Athlete of the Week with a punchier headline and caption.
