Montana Tech senior Brooke Badovinac, a former Butte Central Maroon, is this week’s Butte Sports Athlete of the Week after a breakout performance that powered the Orediggers past the College of Idaho on Friday night in Caldwell.

Badovinac came through when her team needed her most, scoring a career-high 15 points, including two clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter to seal a 70-60 victory for Montana Tech. The senior guard showed the poise and confidence that Butte fans have watched grow since her high school days at Maroon Activities Center, where she made her mark as a gritty, all-around player for the Lady Maroons.

Tech improved to 2-0 on the young season behind a balanced attack that also saw Hadley Humpherys post a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. But when it came time to finish, it was Badovinac’s steady hand that made the difference.

A proud Butte native, Brooke continues to represent the Mining City well on the collegiate stage. Her leadership and shooting touch have become staples for the Orediggers, who are looking to make noise in the Frontier Conference this winter.

Congratulations to Brooke Badovinac, the Butte Sports Athlete of the Week.
