Butte runners finish strong at Missoula Marathon

MISSOULA – Butte was well represented in the 9th Missoula Marathon Sunday.

Thirty-four runners listed as being from Butte finish the 26.2-mile marathon or the half marathon.

Missoula runners Trisha Drobeck and Collin Fehr claimed overall titles in the marathon. Drobeck, 35, won the women’s race, breaking her own record with a time of 2 hours, 46 minutes, 52 seconds.

Fehr, 27, won the men’s title in 2:37:05.

Ted Connors, 49, was the fastest Butte runner in the marathon. He finished in 3:23:37. Butte’s Jim Konen, 60, finished in 4:33:02, while Israel Green crossed in 5:47:25.

On the women’s side, Butte’s Haylee Gallegos, 21, finished in 3:31:09. Butte’s Holly Peterson, 55, crossed in 4:31:28, while Ashley Tierney, 32, finished in 5:25:30.

Helena’s Heather Lieberg was the overall winner in the women’s half marathon. Lieberg, 36, finished the 13.1-mile course in 1:15:54.

A handful of Butte runners broke the 2-hour mark. Butte High runner Joby Rosenleaf, 16, finished in 1:36:49.

Other Butte runners to cross in less than 2-hours were Ashley Choquette, 33, (1:37:14); Amber Wood-Jensen, 39, (1:37:14); Michele Bazzenella, 41, 1:39:30; Jessie Janecke, 32, 1:54:41; Nicole Burby, 37, (1:55:22); and Jessica Condon, 29, (1:57:25).

Other female runners from Butte to finish the half marathon were Suzy McClernan, Kate Blaskovich, Cassandra Cassidy, Mary Gail Sullivan, Courtney Berge, Jody Parvinen, Helen Gomez, Baili Connors, Juli Connors, Machele Hendrickson, Christina Gomez, Nicole Russell and Christy Bennett.

Bozeman runner Seth Garbett, 23, won the men’s half marathon in 1:08:06. Butte runner Jeff Braun, 51, finished in 1:23:57.

Butte’s Ozzie Rosenleaf, 41, finished in 1:25:47, while Rande Farrow, 62, crossed in 1:50:58.

Other Butte men to finish the half marathon were Matt Rachor, Jay Grant, Clint Connors, Mark Parvinen and Dan Silk.
