Butte runners compete in Helena cross country meet

HELENA — A handful of Butte runners competed in the USATF Montana Association cross country meet Saturday at the Bill Roberts Golf Course. (Results)

Sophie Hochin of the Butte Track Club won the girls’ 8-and-under 2-kilometer race. She finished in 9:40. Butte runners Keeley Janecke (10:23), Penelope Luebke (10:40), Tenely Osborne (13:59) and Natalie Osterman (14:25) rounded out the top five.

Butte High sophomore Hailey Nielson placed second in the girls’ 15-18 age group. She finished the 5-kilometer race in 19 minutes, 59 seconds.

The Butte team placed two runners in the top three in the boys’ 8-and-under 2-kilometer race. Chase Nasheim took second in 8:44, while Miles Choquette took third in 9:10.

In the boys’ 9-10 3-kilomoter race, Butte’s Chase Choquette took fifth in 12:56. Camden Houchin finished seventh in 13:11, and Blake Wadas took 11th in 14:25.

Butte’s Ryan Tomich placed 20th in the boys’ 13-14 4-kilometer race in 17:11.

In the men’s 5-kilometer division, Butte’s Don Foley placed eight in 19:34. Guy Wadas finished 11th in 20:24.
