PORTLAND, Ore. — Two Butte handball players competed in the National Handball Championships this week.
Brett Badovinac lost to Sean Haley of Concord, California 21-11, 21-13 in the quarterfinals of the 50-plus division.
Sam Sottosanti defeated Jeremy Aguilar of Austin, Texas 21-6, 21-6 in the first round of the A division before falling to Marco Ojeda of Riverside, California 21-17, 21-13 in the round of 16.
Sottosanti paired with Austin Biddle of Milwaukie, Oregon in the A doubles, falling to Ross Colyer and Denny Schimdt of Missouri in the quarterfinals.
Diarmaid Nash of Scariff, County Claire, Ireland won the men’s open title, defeating Marin Mulkerrins of Gallway, County Gallway, Ireland 14-21, 21-18, 11-9 in the finals.
Catriona Casey of Ballydesmond, County Cork, Ireland d. Fiona Tully of Roscommon, County Roscommon, Ireland 21-2, 21-3 in the women’s open final. 1 comment
