BILLING — The Billings Scarlets swept an conference doubleheader with the Butte Miners Saturday.
Billings took the first game 4-1 before completing the sweep with a 10-0 win in Game 2. The second game was called by the 10-run rule after five innings.
The Miners felt o 1-6 in conference play. They will play their first league home games Wednesday when they welcome the Billings Royals to Copper Mountain Park for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
Billings Scarlets 4, Butte Miners 1
David Follett struck out 10 Miners through five innings in the opener.
Still, Butte stayed in the game thanks to the pitching of Quin Summers, who scattered six hits and worked around six walks.
Jackson Cobb walked in the first inning. He scored on a Jake McGovern double to put the Royals on top for god.
Billings added two in the third and one in the fifth to build a 4-0 lead.
Butte got one run back in the seventh. Tyler Ossello drew a walk and scored on a Jared Haran two-out single.
McGovern’s double was the only extra-base hit of the game. Cobb, Cole Jones, Jalen Garcia, Gordon Sveinson and Matt Larsen added singles in the win.
Trey Hoagland, Ryan Moodry and Kilian O’Leary poked base hits for the Miners.

The second game was basically over before it started.
The first four Royals to bat scored as Billings took command with a five-run first inning. Billings put the game away with two in the second and three in the fourth.
Jones struck out seven batters and surrendered just two hits in five innings of work to get the win.
Sieverson, who went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, was one of three Royals to double. Jayson Leinwasnd and Garcia also hit a two sacker. McGovern and Leinwasnd each drove in two runs.
Moodry and Marcus Madrazo singled for the Miners.
