Butte High’s Weldon tied for second with rain-soaked 73

BOZEMAN — The rain and cold couldn’t slow down Butte High’s Isaiah Weldon Thursday.

The Bulldog junior golfer fired a 3-over-par 73 at the Valley View Golf Course. That is good for a second-place tie at the midway point of the eight-team Bozeman Invitational.

Joey Moore of Billings West shot a 1-under 69 to take the lead heading into Friday’s final round at the Bridger Creek Golf Course. Weldon is tied with Helena Capital’s Riley Lawrence. Jr. Small of Bozeman sits in fourth at 74.

Butte High’s Will Hoagland is tied for 10th place at 79.

The host Hawks top the team standings at 302. Billings West is second at 305, followed by Billings Skyview at 316. Butte High is holding down fourth place at 318.

Also for Butte High, Houston Green carded a 80, Marcus Lynch hit 86, and Kaven Noctor shot 90.

On the girls’ side, Butte High junior Kelliann Neary continued her recent hot streak by shooting a 97. She is tied with senior teammate Lexi Williams for 15th place.

Bozeman golfers hold the top four individual spots. Kameryn Basey leads the way at 79. She is followed by Hannah Rosanova at 82, Laurel Ward at 84 and Annika Danenhauer at 85.

As a team, the Hawks lead the way at 330. West is a distant second at 396. Butte High sits in seventh at 407.

Sadie Starcevich shot a 104 for the Bulldogs, who got a 109 from Grace Luoma and a 110 from Katelyn Alley.
