Butte High’s Noctor tied for third after first round

ANACONDA — Butte High senior Kaven Noctor is tied for third place after the first round Butte High’s Butte-Anaconda golf tournament.

Noctor fired a 79 on a cold, wet and windy Old Works Wednesday. He is tied with Bozeman’s J.R. Small, Kalispell Glacier’s Tyler Avery and Keaton Cassidy and Missoula Sentinel’s Zach Hangas.

Bozeman brothers Justus and Jordan Verge are tied for the lead at 75.

The Hawks shot a 312 to take the lead heading into Thursday’s final round at the Butte Country Club Glacier si second at 322, followed by Missoula Sentinel at 334, Belgrade at 343, Missoula Big Sky at 346 and Butte High at 351.

Also for Butte High, Hunter Salcido hit 86, Jack Prigge shot 89 and Ty Insko carded a 97.

Gator Yelenich hit a 90 to lead Butte Central, which shot a 399. Cole Johnson hit a 96, while Austin Harrington shot 98.

Brady Anderson’s 95 lead Butte High’s JV team, which shot 429. Joseph Lyons hit 98.

With four players in the top 10, Butte High’s girls shot a 362 and sit in second place. Bozeman leads the way at 340, while Flathead is third at 391.

Cora Rosanova of Bozeman shot an 81 to take the first-day lead. Teammates Sami Yates and Cooper Knarr are tied for second with Flatheads’s Marcella Mercer.

Bulldog Ella Prigge hit an 87 and heads into Thursday in sixth place. She is followed by teammates Kodie Hoagland at 88 and Grace Luoma at 89. Butte’s MacKenzie Finnegan is 10th at 98.

Also for Butte High, Kennedy Lean hit 102.
