Butte High’s Hoagland second, Williams fifth at GF Invite

GREAT FALLS — Billings West golfer Joey Moore fired a 4-under-par 67 Tuesday at the Eagle Falls Golf Course for a come-from-behind victory at the Great Falls Invitational high school golf tournament.

Moore’s 67 followed Monday’s 3-over 75 at Meadow Lark Country Club for a 142 total. That was four shots better than first-day leader Trey Hoagland of Butte High.

The Bulldog senior followed Monday’s 73 with a final-round 73 for a 146 total and second place. Three golfers tied for third place at 149. Butte High sophomore Isaiah Weldon tied for 10th at 153. He followed Monday’s 76 with a 77.

Bulldog junior Houston Green placed 13th at 155. He improved three shots for a 76.

All 14 Class AA teams competed in the tournament.

On the girls’ side, Butte High’s Alexis Williams shot a final-round 87. Her 177 total was good for fifth place.

Hayden Flohr of West won with a 154. Tiegan Avery of Kalispell Glacier took second at 156. Bozeman’s Hannah Rosanova finished a distant third at 168, while Great Falls High’s Catrina Babinecz took fourth at 173.

Bozeman won the girls’ team title at 728. Butte High finished 12th at 966. Butte High sophomore Sadie Starcevich improved five shots from the first round for a 114. Junior Katelyn Alley shot 119, and sophomore Kelliann Neary hit 145.

The Butte High boys held firm at third place, improving five shots for a 306 on the final round and a 617 total. West won at 609, followed by Billings Skyview at 615.

Sophomore Will Hoagland and senior Eric Fogarty both improved from the first round to shoot 80. Hoagland finished at 163, while Fogerty hit 168.

The Bulldogs are back in action next Monday and Tuesday when they play in Billings.
