Butte High’s Brityn Garrett heading to State rodeo

The 2014-15 high school sports season hasn’t ended just yet.

Butte High sophomore Brityn Garrett will represent the Mining City in three events at the State High School Rodeo this week. The rodeo begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday at the Majestic Valley Arena in Kalispell.

Garrett, who has been involved in rodeo since she was 5, qualified for State in barrel racing, pole bending and goat tying.

Her best event — according to season standings — is pole bending. She is tied for the top spot in the state with 70 out of a possible 70 points. She is one of six cowgirls who are “maxed out” in the event.

Garrett is ranked eighth in the state in barrel racing with 67.5 points out of the possible 70.

Glen cowgirl Hailey Garrison, who attends Beaverhead County High School in Dillon, will also compete at the State rodeo.
