Both the boys and the girls took 6th place today at the Butte Invitational swim meet.
The Butte girls who where swimming without one of their top swimmers, Olivia Thurmond due to illness came out and everyone swam a personal best time in at least one of their events. They were led by Freshman, Alaina Grochowski, who took 4th in the 200 free and 6th in the 100 breast. She swam a best time in both events. Senior, Lily Jaksha, swam a best time in the 100 free to capture 6th. She also took 7th in the 50 free.Sophomore, Tatum Trefts, swam a best time in the 100 breast to take 3rd. Freshman, Nimalka DeAlwis swam a best time in the 100 free to take 10th. The 200 medley Relay team of Nimalka DeAlwis, Tatum Trefts, Alaina Grochowski, and Lily Jaksha took 8th. The 200 free relay team of Alaina Grochowski, Sophia Fladager, Joci Petroni, and Lily Jaksha took 6th.
The Boys were led by Sophomore, Nathan Stone, who had a personal best time by 2 seconds in the 100 fly to take 6th. He also swam a best time in the 100 breast to capture 4th. Junior, Ziah Garza, who has been sick all week, had a best time in the 50 free to take 10th. He also took 9th in the 100 back. Junior, Blair Hamry, who is also back after being sick, placed 4th in the 200 IM.
“We are swimming hard right now. This is the time of the season when they are tired and putting in a lot more yardage and speed work. This brings on exhaustion. Swimming best times shows how hard everyone is working. We haven’t swam against the Billings teams this year, so it was nice to see different teams.”
