GREAT FALLS — Butte High’s softball team went 1-3 Saturday at the Great Falls Jamboree, which was played at an extremely windy Great Falls Multi-Sports Complex.
The Bulldogs beat Kalispell Flathead 7-0 for their lone victory. Butte High fell 3-0 to Missoula Hellgate, 4-2 to Missoula Sentinel and 9-0 to Helena Capital. Each game was played with a 1-hour time limit.
“It was an experience for the kids and for us (the coaches),” Butte High first-year head coach Ryan Stosich said. “We will move on and get back to work on Monday.”
Stosich praised freshmen pitchers Kennedi Ferriter, Katlyn O’Brien and Kaidy McClafferty, who saw time in the circle along with senior Justyce Connole.
“They pitched pretty well, especially for being freshmen,” Stosich said. “We kept telling them this is a whole different ballgame. This isn’t ASA anymore.”
The four games don’t count in conference or non-conference standings. The Bulldogs open the season officially Tuesday when they take on Missoula Big Sky in a non-conference game at Stodden Park.
