The 2020 Silver B’s Night has been called off.
Scott Paffhausen, the president of the organization that honors former Butte High football lettermen, announced the difficult decision tonight.
Silver B’s Night was sent for Sept. 25 when the Bulldogs host Missoula Sentinel. Because of the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paffhausen said the dinner and celebration had to be canceled.
“There’s just no way to do our deal,” Paffhausen said.
Silver B’s honors go to players 25 years after they first lettered for the Bulldogs. Golden B’s awards go to those who lettered 50 years ago, and Diamond B honors go to those 75 years later.
This year, Bill Lindsay, who lives in Eureka, is set to become the organization’s 14th Diamond B. Tom LeProwse became the 13th last fall.
Paffhausen said he will send a mailing to all Silver B’s explaining the situation in the next few days. (Click here to read the letter.) He said he is unsure about how the organization will proceed, but the Silver B’s of 2020 will eventually be honored.
“We’ll do a celebration for these gentlemen when we can,” Paffhausen said.
