Butte High jayvees split early softball games

Butte High experienced mixed results in its first two junior varsity softball games of the season.
The Butte team whipped Missoula Hellgate 15-0 after falling by 8-2 to Helena Capital in jayvee matchups.
Both games were played on the road. Sophie Radcliffe singled and drove in three runs while Reese Johnson and Kendallyn Schad combined to pitch a two-hitter. The game ended after five innings on the 10-run difference rule.
Mattie Stepan mashed a double for Butte High and Gracie Jonart poked two singles. Hailey Skeel and Allie Becker each whacked a base hit. Skeel, Stepan and Becker each tallied an RBI.
Avery Barsness, Brittyn Klima, Keeley Johnston, Lauren Warren, Ryann Phillips, Kylie Jacksha and Grace Underwood also played.
The Butte High defense turned in an errorless performance.
Jonart pounded a double and single in the loss at Helena Capital. Butte’s other hits were singles by Godbout, Klima and Becker.
Becker knocked in both Butte High runs.
