KALISPELL — Butte High’s girls’ basketball team gave Kalispell Flathead all it could handle Friday night.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it was not enough.
The Bravettes bounced back from their first loss of the season with a hard-fought 36-32 Western win over the Bulldogs. The win lifted Flathead to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
The victory came despite a Bulldog run in the second half.
Flathead led 21-11 at the halftime, and Bulldog Tyler Clary opened the third quarter with a 3-poitner to ignite a 10-0 Bulldog run. Laura Rosenleaf tied the game with a bucket with 4 minutes, 50 seconds left in the third.
Emmarie Richards tied the game again at 26 late in the fourth quarter.
Avery Chouinard, though, hit a 3-ponter with 3:32 left in the game to give the Bravettes the lead for good.
Maddy Moore scored 11 points to lead the Bravettes. Clare Converse added nine points. Akilah Kubi tossed in six, and Moy scored five.
Kodie Hoagland and Rosenleaf each scored nine points to lead the Bulldogs, who played without injured Ashley Olson. She sprained an ankle in practice this week.
Richards scored seven points for the Bulldogs, who got five from Payton Clary and three from Tyler Clary. Brooke McGrath, Pieper Joseph and Rian Ferriter also contributed for Butte High, which fell to 7-5 and 3-5.
Butte High will stay in Kalispell to take on Glacier at 3 p.m. Saturday.
