Hoagland’s 17 leads Butte High girls

MISSOULA — Hailey Hoagland’s 17 points paced the Butte High girls’ basketball team Saturday night as the Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 61-54 non-conference win over Missoula Big Sky.

The 17 points was the most for Hoagland since she scored 20 against Billings Senior on Jan. 21. Five nights later she tore an ACL.

The junior guard was one of four Bulldogs to score in double figures in a game that saw Butte High battle back from a double-digit deficit in the first quarter. Natalee Faupel scored 12 points, while Sammy McGree and Hattie Thatcher each scored 11. Also, Carlie Haeffner scored six points, while Maria Michelotti tossed in four.

Jenna Sedgwick scored 12 to lead Big Sky. Dani Baker scored 11, while Kelsey Donnelly scored 10.

The Bulldogs wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule next Friday when they play Missoula Hellgate at the Civic Center.
