Butte High drops two on final day of Combo

Butte High’s junior varsity team lost a pair of games to tough varsity competition Saturday at Stodden Park.

Columbia Falls beat Butte High 9-5 before the Bulldogs fell 12-3 to Florence-Carlton. The losses dropped the Bulldogs to 1-2 on Butte Central’s Laverne Combo Invitational.

Butte High will play at Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday before closing the regular season at home against Kalispell Flathead and Glacier Friday and Saturday.

Haylee Lawrence went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Wildcats, who scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The game was called after three by the tournament time limit.

Brityn Stewart homered and singled, driving in three runs to lead the Bulldogs. Natalie Lynch, Madi Jonart and Shanti Berkopec also singled for Butte High. Lynch, Jonart, Dacelyn Lafond, Hailey Skeel and Berkopec worked walks.

Florence-Carlton 12, Butte High JV 3 (Boxscore)
Kassidy Yeoman and Kolbi Wood homered to lead the reigning Class B-C state champion Falcons in the win that went five innings before the time limit ended it.

Rylee Yeoman went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, and Kylie Kovatch struck out six and scattered four hits in the win.

Stewart hit a triple and a single to lead the Bulldogs. Madisyn Swanson and Gracie Ferriter hit singles. Kamber Leary and Lafond worked walks.
