Tuesday afternoon on another beautiful fall setting, Missoula Sentinel as the #4 seed hosted Butte High as the #5 seed in the first round of the playoffs. After these same two teams battled to a 2-2 tie exactly two weeks ago, this time Sentinel came out on top 2-0.
Sentinel was able to use all of their field to keep possession of the ball for the majority of the game. Still Butte High had numerous fast break counter attacks and some good shots on goal.
Sentinel led 1-0 at the half and put in the final goal in the 76th minute to seal the game for the Spartans.
Butte High Head Coach Cody Carpenter said, “Sentinel is a great team and our boys had fun playing them today. However, their patient passing wore us down.”
“We had some great chances to score as well but it wasn’t our day. I’m so proud of how hard everyone played, and that we were still fighting when the final whistle blew.”
“It is hard to say goodbye to our 10 seniors, but I am confident that these young men will all move on to be great leaders in our society.”
Sentinel will travel to Bozeman on Saturday in the quarter finals.
