Butte golfers win flights at Senior Championships

HELENA — Three Butte golfers claimed the top spots in their flights at the Montana State Senior Championships.

The three-day tournament concluded Thursday. It was played at the Green Meadow Country Club and Bill Roberts and Fox Ridge golf courses. (Results)

Butte’s Bill Hughes, Dan Mahoney and Bob “Rolo” Miller each took home a flight championship.

Hughes won the Freshman Flight 6 with a 248. Mahoney took the top spot in the Sophomore Flight 2, while Miller won the Senior Flight 2 at 261.

Rich O’Leary of Butte placed second in the Sophomore Flight 5 at 254.

Tom White of Bozeman went wire to wire for the victory. He followed 67 and 68 over the first two days with a 75 on Thursday. Craig Hurlbert of Rollins placed second at 212. 1 comment
