Butte golfers win Beaverhead Open

DILLON — Butte junior golfers Eric Fogerty, Will Kilmer, Houston Green, Hailey Ogolin and Tricia Joyce topped their age groups Monday at The Beaverhead Open at the Beaverhead Golf Course.

The tournament was the sixth stop on the Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour.

Fogerty and Kilmer tied for first place in the Tiger Woods Division for boys 16-17 at 81. They beat Travis Wright of Helena by one shot. Logan Teegarden of Clancy was next at 83.

Green carded a 6-over-par 78 to claim victory in the Rory McIlroy Division (boys 14-15). Fellow Butte golfer Isaiah Weldon finished second at 84.

Ogolin was the only competitor in the Suzann Pettersen (girls 16-17) division. She carded an 86. Butte High teammate Shealyn Hafer, Ogolin’s chief competition for the Tour title, didn’t play because she is competing in a national junior tournament this week.

Joyce won the Stacy Lewis Division (girls 14-15), topping fellow Butte golfer Alexis Williams by two shots.

In the Phil Mickelson Division (boys 12-13), Tristan Hanson of Hamilton won the nine-hole competition with a 44. Max Feight of Whitehall and Erik Casagranda of Butte tied for second at 46.

Next up for the Tour is the Aug. 6 Anaconda Challenge at the Anaconda Country Club in Opportunity.
