Butte golfers take 5 of 6 divisions at Anaconda Challenge

OPPORTUNITY — Butte golfers won five of six divisions of the Anaconda Challenge Wednesday at the Anaconda Country Club.

The tournament was the second-to-last stop of the 2015 Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour.

Butte’s Houston Green, Kaven Noctor, Alexis Williams, Tricia Joyce and Kennedy Lean brought home titles.

Green fired a 73 to win the Tiger Woods division for boys 16-17. He beat fellow Butte golfer Isaiah Weldon by two shots. Helena’s Taggart Sullivan placed third at 79.

Noctor shot a 47 to win the nine-hole Phil Mickelson division for boys 12-13. He beat Hamilton’s Tanner Hanson by one shot.

Williams continued her dominance in the Suzann Petterson division for girls 16-17. She shot an 88 to win easily, topping second-place Stacy Lamb of Helena by 10 strokes.

Joyce and Lean were the only players in their respective age divisions. Joyce won the Stacy Lewis division for girls 14-15 with a 95. Lean shot a 67 on nine holes to win the Lexi Thompson division for girls 12-13.

In the Rory McIlroy boys’ 14-15 division, Stevensville’s Zel Frost and Missoula’s Shawn Ryan tied for the title at 94. Butte’s Kaden Hanni, J.J. Mohr and Alex Dorr tied for third at 96.

The tour will wrap up the season Monday at the Old Works Championship.
