Butte golfers lead Tour standings

Five Butte golfers find themselves on top of their age group standings as the Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour approaches the halfway point.

Isaiah Weldon, Hailey Hoagland, Shealyn Hafer, Alexis Williams and Tricia Joyce sit in first place through three of the tour’s seven stops, according the Tour standings that were released today.

Weldon leads the Steve Stricker Division for boys 12-13 with 6,000 points. Butte golfer Tyge Yelenich is second with 5,200.

Hoagland and Hafer are tied for first in the Stacie Lewis division for girls 16-17 with 2,800 points. Fellow Butte High golfer Hailey Ogolin is third at 1,900.

Williams has 1,550 points for a slim lead over Helena’s Rowan Rankin in the Paula Creamer Division for girls 14-15. Rankin has 1,500 points.

In the Cristie Kerr Division for girls 12-13, Joyce has a comfortable lead over fellow Butte golfer Prestynn Weldon, 1,400-600.

Wisdom golfer Bryce Heesacker leads the Tiger Woods division for boys 16-17 with 3,550 points. Anaconda’s Jackson Wagner is second at 2,500.

Helena’s Taggart Sullivan leads a logjam on top of the Brandt Snedeker Division for boys 14-15. He leads with 3,700 points. Eric Fogerty of Butte is second at 3,300, followed by Helena’s Riley Lawrence and Butte’s Will Kilmer at 3,000.

The next stop on the Tour is the Fairmont Invitational, which is next Monday. Play will start with a 9 a.m. start, and Tour director Bob Wengel says he is expecting a large field.

The Tour will also stop in Deer Lodge and Opportunity on its way to the Aug. 12 Tour Championships at the Old Works in Anaconda.
