The Butte Country Club will be the site of the 28th Montana State Men’s Mid-Amateur golf tournament Thursday through Saturday.
Play begins with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. the next two days.
Kalispell golfer Logan Lindholm will be in town to defend his title. East Helena’s Spencer Williams, the 2012 champion, will make the trip looking for his second title in three years.
The tournament will be played at the Butte Country Club for the third time. John Reeves of Helena won the Mid-Am in Butte in 2004. Butte golfer Rick Lyons won it on his home course in 1995. Neither will be playing this week.
The tournament field, though, will include a strong contingent of Butte golfers, including Larry Pericich, Thomas Weis, Mike McGurk, Larry Stratford, Pete Yerkich, Lee Earhart, Mark Hodges, Fred Zemljak and Joe Little.
Butte native Gary Koprivica of Missoula will also compete.
The last time the Country Club hosted a major Montana State Golf Association tournament was the 2009 Montana State Amateur. Bill Dunn of Missoula won that tournament.
Dunn will also be competing this week.
