Butte Copper City Kings go 3-1 in home weekend

The Butte Copper City Kings had a nice home weekend.

The Butte high school hockey team played two games apiece against Missoula and Great Falls at the Butte Community Ice Center, and the Butte club posted a 3-1 record.

The next scheduled home games for the Kings are Feb. 23 and 24 against Helena. Following is a run down of each of Butte’s four games.

Butte 4, Missoula 2
A hat trick by Kody Chamberlin led the way for the Kings, who jumped out to a 4-1 lead and held on for Friday night’s victory.

Chamberlin scored Butte’s first three goals — two of which came in the first period — before Andrew Kober got into the action in the second period.

Robin Bagley and Russell Park assisted on the first Chamberlin goal, while Carsten Quam and Bagley assisted on the second.

Bagley racked up his third assist on Chamberlin’s third goal. Guido Ossello and Gabe LeProwse assisted Kober.

Braiden Schreck and Brannsen Nelson scored for Missoula.

Butte goaltender Bryce Stewart picked up the win between the pipes.

Missoula 5, Butte 4
Zach Hangas scored of a Henry McDoughey assist with 5 minutes left, as Missoula knocked off the Butte club Saturday morning.

McDoughey also scored three goals, while Bill Lucas added one in the victory.

Bagley scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead Butte. LeProwse and Chamberlin each added an unassisted goal.

Butte 8, Great Falls 0
Chamberlin and Aidan Francisco each scored a pair of goals as the Kings rolled to victory on Saturday night.

LeProwse, Quam, Bagley and Carson Barry each added goals in the win, while Stewart racked up eight saves in the shutout win.

Park registered four assists for Butte. Chamberlin assisted on two goals, while Bagley and Barry each assisted on one.

Butte 5, Great Falls 1
Five different Butte players found the net as the Kings closed the weekend with a victory Sunday afternoon.

Brandon Lyons, Francisco, Kober, Quam and Bagley all scored goals in the win that was a complete team effort.

Noah McGee, Karlie Hedges, Ossello, Bagley, Barry, Francisco, Quam and Park each picked up an assist.

Stewart turned away 21 shots to get the win in the net.

Keaton Slater scored for Great Falls.
