The victory was the first in nine tries this season for the Cobras, and the first for the Butte club since the 2017 playoffs. Butte did not field a team during the 2017-18 campaign.

The game went to overtime after the Quake outscored Butte 4-3 in the third period to tie the game at 7.

Tyson Stovin scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Cobras in the win. Wyatt Haakenson added two goals and two assists.

Carsten Quam and Bryce Gould joined Shults with one goal. Casey Mattfeldt saved 59 shots to get the victory between the pipes.

Nick Castro and Luke Hartge each registered a hat trick to lead Yellowstone, which fell to 1-6.

The Cobras are back on the road next weekend. Butte plays at Bozeman on Friday before heading to Helena on Saturday.
