Butte Central Looks to Stop Bleeding on Defensive Side of Ball to Give Offense More Opportunities

Butte Central Maroons (0-2) Polson Pirates (0-2). Butte Central looks to bounce back after a 0-2 start with losses to Ronan and Hamilton. They will be back home this week as they host the Polson Pirates in a non-conference game.

Maroon QB Jack Keeley has completed 27 of 46 attempts this season for 389 yards and 3 passing touchdowns, he also leads the team in rushing yards with 112 total and 56 per game. Last week he had 16 completions for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Who has Jack been tossing TDs too? Senior WR Zane Moodry has caught 12 balls for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns, he’s averaging 125.5 receiving yards a game with an average of 20.9 yards a catch.

Defense and tackling have been the issue for the Maroons as they just can’t seem to stop the ball and give their offense more chances with the deadly Moodry, Keeley air attack. They will look to change that this week against the Pirates who come in with 460 passing yards, and 617 all-purpose yards on the season thus far. The Pirates are led by Sophomore QB Holden Emerson who has completed 30-63 passes this year for 460 yards and 4 touchdowns. Senior WR Tommy Sherry has 10 catches for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead Polson.

Both teams have given up nearly 90 points of offense in their first two contests, so it looks to be seen who can stop who’s high powered offense on Friday night at Bob Green Field.
