Butte Central unveils 2016-17 sports schedules

Butte Central release schedules for all sports during the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, and the Maroons will open the football season Friday, Aug. 26 at Belgrade.

BC’s football team will play five home games, beginning Sept. 2 against Browning. The Maroons will also host Hardin (Sept. 9), Stevensville (Sept. 23), Polson (Oct. 7) and Dillon (Oct. 21).

The Maroon will celebrate Homecoming when Stevensville comes to town. The team will play road conference games at Corvallis (Sept. 30) and Hamilton (Oct.14).

The BC volleyball team will begin its quest back to the Class A State tournament when the Maroons open the tournament at a tipoff tournament in Whitefish.

BC’s first home match will be Sept. 8 against Dillon. The Maroons will host their annual Blocktober Classic on Oct. 15. The Western A Divisional tournament is Nov. 3-5 in Columbia Falls, while State is once again in Bozeman.

In cross country, the Maroons will open Aug. 26 at Livingston. BC’s will host the Butte Central Invitational Aug. 30 at Fairmont Hot Springs.

The Western A Divisional meet will also be at Farimont on Oct. 15. The State meet is the following week in Kalispell.

The golf season opens Aug. 15 when the Maroons host the Butte Central Invitational at the Highland View Golf Course. The divisional and State tournaments will be played at the Hamilton Golf Club.

Down the road a bit, the Butte Central basketball teams will open Dec. 8-9 at a tipoff tournament in Missoula. For the first time in years, the Maroons will not host a tipoff tournament. The Class A boys’ and girls’ state tournaments will be at the Butte Civic Center on back-to-back weekends in March.
