DILLON — Butte Central’s volleyball season will live for one more week.
The Maroons knocked off Dillon in four-set, loser-out match this afternoon at the Western A Divisional tournament at the B.W. Lodge Gymnasium.
After dropping the first set 25-23, BC battled back to win the next three sets 25-18, 25-16 and 25-21.
The win sends the Maroons the 8 p.m. fourth-place match. It also secures a berth in next week’s Class AA State tournament in Bozeman.
BC can still win the tournament with a win tonight and three wins on Saturday. The rest of the tournament is about seeding.
“Our play was strong and we never gave up,” BC coach Becky Hancock said. “I’m so proud of these girls and their fight to come away on top in a very high intensity game. We are on to State, something that is an accomplishment in itself for this team. But still have another game to focus in on tonight to get into tomorrow’s semi games.”
The trip to state will be the first for the Maroons since they placed third in 2015.
Cassidy Strizic tallied 14 kills, and Maci Reopelle registered 24 assists, 22 digs and nine kills to lead the Maroons. BC also got nine kills from Avery Kelly and seven apiece from Amira Bolton and Marissa Anderson.
Emma Keeley added 21 assists, and Sophia Sullivan (14) and Sophia Burton (11) reached double figures in digs.
