Butte Central looks to fuel defensive spark in bid to get offense more snaps

Butte Central (0-1) VS Hamilton (1-0), the Maroons will head out for their first road trip of the season to do battle with the Hamilton Broncs Friday night. Butte Central came out swinging in their home opener led by Senior QB Jack Keeley who saw his fist live action since being hurt early in the season last year, and he showed up and showed out. Central ultimately lost 29-15 but we saw a lot of good things from the return of QB Jack Keeley.

He started Centrals night off with a 1 YD rushing TD, and then had a 54-yard strike to senior wideout Zane Moodry for a touchdown in the 4th quarter. The Maroons were a little lackluster on the defensive side, especially tackling, but head man Don Peoples said that won’t be an issue going forward.

The Maroons need a little more out of the defense to get their offense more time of possession on their side to be able to showcase some more of the Keeley, Moodry combo.

The Hamilton Broncs are coming of their opening night win against the Whitefish Bulldogs where they won 21-7. Hamilton’s senior QB Lucas Lant went 10-14 with 77 yards through the air but what he did on the ground was just as impressive, he carried the ball 25 times for 95 more yards and for 2 touchdowns.  Senior RB Andrew Fredrick carried the ball 31 times for 145 yards and a touchdown to help lead his team to an opening night victory.

The Maroons look to bounce back on the road this week in Hamilton where they look to build off a strong offensive outing and the defense looks to spark itself up in the tackling game to give their offense some more reps on the field, kickoff is at 7PM.
