Butte Central girls run record to 12-0

BELGRADE — The Butte Central girls’ basketball team ran its season-opening winning streak to 12 games Tuesday night, knocking off Belgrade 51-31 in a non-conference game at the Special Events Center.

In the latest win, the Maroons overcame some early misses for yet another lopsided victory.

Molly Peoples scored all of her game-high 19 points in the middle two quarters as the Maroons broke open a game they led 9-7 after the first quarter.

Kloie Thatcher added 12 points in the win. Sierra Pica tossed in eight points, while Kailee Murphy and Emily St. John each scored six. Kate Ossello, Taylor Wahl, Megan Michelotti, Olivia Bolton, Caleigh Mullaney, Tricia Joyce and Bella Sorini also played for the Maroons in the win.

Kendall Bethke’s eight points paced the Panthers, who fell to 2-11. Shania Neubauer added seven points.

The 12-0 Maroons will head to Hamilton Saturday for a Southwestern A game against the Broncs. Central’s winning streak includes a Jan. 2 home win over Hamilton, the team that beat the Maroons in last year’s Class A state championship game.
