Butte Central completes Bitterroot sweep

Butte Central’s softball team hit the road for two big wins in the Bitterroot Valley Saturday.

With McKenzie Gallagher pitching both games, the Maroons beat Hamilton 6-0 in Hamilton before heading to Corvallis to beat the Blue Devils 7-5.

BC improved to 6-2 in Southwestern A play with the sweep. The Maroons evened their overall record at 7-7.

The Maroons are back in action Tuesday when they play host to Dillon on Senior Day at Stodden Park.

HAMILTON — Kloie Thatcher, Mollie Peoples and Emily St. John each smacked a pair of hits to lead the Maroons in their first game. Thatcher hit a double.

The Maroons also got singles from Corbyn Holm, Taylor Wahl, Michelotti, Kassidy Criscuolo.

Gallagher, who improved her record to 5-3 with the two wins, struck out five batters and walked two. She scattered seven hits, all singles.

Caitlin Dillon and Kloie Nie each had a pair of hits for the Broncs.

CORVALLIS — Gallagher gave up 11 hits in the second game, but she struck out seven batters and walked none.

Michelotti doubled and Holm drove in two runs with a pair of singles to lead the BC offense, which overcame a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the fourth inning.

St. John added two hits in the win, while Shawnee Hjelt, Wahl, Criscuolo and Gallagher each hit a single.

Bobbie Stephen went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Blue Devils. Kenley Fields tripled.
