A Butte team made up of players from Mile High and Northwest Little League won the Intermediate District 2 title this weekend in Missoula.
The Butte boys beat Lolo 15-5 to win the tournament in the first-year Little League offered a world championship in the Intermediate division.
Butte will head to Billings to play for the state title this weekend. The winner there will head to Irvine, Calif., for the Western Regional tournament.
The Intermediate division is offered as a transition league between major baseball and senior baseball that is played on a regulation field.
Instead of playing on a field where the mound is 60 feet, 6 inches from the plate and the bases are 90 feet apart, Intermediate baseball plays on a field that features a mound 50 feet from the plate and bases 70 feet apart.
It also features other aspects of senior baseball, such as leading off and stealing bases. Players from 11 to 13 are eligible to play.
Playing for Butte are Trey Berger, Bryson Henningson, Noah Reynolds, Robin Bagley, Austin Gerry, Seth Reigard, Cameron Johnson, Tommy Martz, Liam Sommer, Ryan Moodry, Bryant Morris and Brayden Klobucar.
Randy Gerry is the head coach. He’s assisted by Robin Moodry and Dylan Morris.
