Butte boys win, girls fall on pitch

Butte High’s boys’ soccer team picked up its first win of the season Friday afternoon, knocking off Billings Skyview 3-0.

The Bulldog girls, who played at the same time, fell 6-0.

Matt Loeffler scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs (1-1-1), who led 2-0 at halftime. Noah Loomis assisted on one of the goals.

Jonathan Sholey kicked in a goal late in the first quarter, and Loeffler added his second one midway through the second half.

Jessica Spang and Caylin Cathey each  scored two goals to lead the Falcon girls past Butte High (0-2-1). Ashley Wood and Shelby Guelff both added goals — both off Cathey assists.

“They simply outplayed us in every facet of the game,” Butte High girls’ coach Sean Cleverly said. “We didn’t compete as well as I would have liked. Natalee Faupel and Katie Bennett did some good things back on defense.”

The Bulldog boys and girls play at Billings West Saturday. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
