Butte boys’ tie, girls fall on GF pitch

GREAT FALLS — Matt Loeffler and Jonathan Sholey scored goals for Butte High as the Bulldogs showed much improvement from Tuesday’s loss to Great Falls High with a 2-all tie against Great Falls Russell Saturday.

Butte High’s girls, meanwhile fell 3-0 to the Rustlers.

Loeffler scored on a Cullen Sehulster feed, while Jacob Williams found Sholey with a cross. Nathan Peterson and Ben Yturri scored goals for CMR.

“They came to play,” Butte High coach Eric Zahler said of his team. “We made some adjustments on Friday and these guys paid attention. They didn’t like losing to Great Falls High on Thursday,  and the responded by playing well against a better team.”

In the girls’ match, McKenzie Weber scored twice to lead the Rustlers to the win. Her twin sister Anna Weber added a goal. Payton Netz, Maddie Flammond and Cori Enseleit notched assists for CMR, while goal tenders Gwen Malisani and Kylee Greenwell kept Butte High off the scoreboard.
