GREAT FALLS — Butte High’s boys’ tennis team picked up its first win of the season Friday, knocking off Great Falls Russell 6-1 at the Great Falls Invitational. The Bulldogs boys’ tied Havre 4-1.
The girls tied Havre and fell to CMR. Full results are currently not available.
Butte coach Mavis Bentley pointed to the play of Tyler Reilly, who went 2-0 at the No. 2 singles play. One of his matches was a marathon three-set victory, similar to one he picked up last week in Missoula.
“He was out there forever again,” Bentley said of Reilly. “He’s doing really well at No. 2.”
Bentley also pointed to the play of No. 1 players Kody Lane and Molly Nelson, who face some serious competition at that spot.
“She’s playing tough girls,” Bentley said of Nelson, who is filling in for injured Hallie Hawe at that spot. “But it’s good for her.”
The coach also noted the play of new doubles team of Tucker Reilly and Tanner Tregidga and the No. 1 girls’ doubles team of Kaitlyn Vetter and Aidan Amtmann.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday when they continue the tournament against Cut Bank and Billings.
