Butte athletes claim victories at East Invitational

Four athletes from Butte and two East Middle School relay teams picked up victories at the East Middle School Invitational Thursday at a windy Charlie Merrifield Track inside the Gene Fogarty Complex.

Townsend’s boys claimed the seventh grade title, while Dillon topped the field in the eighth grade boys’ category. East took fourth in seventh boys and second in the eighth boys. Butte Central placed seventh in the eighth boys.

East Valley of East Helena won the girls’ title in the seventh grade. Montana City topped the field in eighth girls. East placed second in seventh grade and fourth in eighth. The Maroons took seventh in the eighth grade girls. (Team scores; Individual results)

Wiley Dallaserra and Cameron Gurnsey posted victories for the East eighth grade boys.

Dallaserra won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 2 inches. He also placed third in the 100 meters. Gurnsey won the high lump, clearing 5 feet, 5 inches. He placed second in the long jump.

Central’s Max Fantini won the eighth grade boys’ javelin with a mark of 86-1, while Harlee Muffich won two evens for the eighth grade east girls.

Muffich won the shot put with a mark of 26-6. She launched the discus 78-4 for a victory. She also placed second in the javelin.

East’s eighth grade boys won the 400-meter relay race. The Bullpup girls won the seventh-grade 400 relay.

Individual runners for the relays, however, were not named in the results.

For the East eighth grade boys, Jeremiah Saari placed second in the triple jump, Bo Demarais placed second in the 100 hurdles, and Brock Ludwick took third in the 100 and fourth in the 100 hurdles. Noah Sage placed fourth in the 100 and 200. Kade Schleeman placed fourth in the shot put.

Issaac Kohler placed fifth in the 1,600 for the seventh grade East boys. Ryan Tomich ran to sixth in the 800, and Zach Pesanti placed sixth in the shot. East’s seventh grade boys also took second in the 400 relay.

East posted a victory in the seventh grade girls’ relay, and Lydia Borduin and Emmarie Richards each placed in the top four in three events.

Borduin took second in the high jump, third in the 100 hurdles, and forth in the long jump. Richards too second in the 200 and fourth in the 100 and long jump. Madison Seahold took second in the 100 and 400 for the East seventh graders

Makena Bazo placed second in the shot put and sixth in the discus, and Teya Edwards placed second in the discus. Rian Ferriter took fourth in the shot and javelin, Sophia Parini took fifth in the 100 and Brooke Groesbeck took fifth in the shot put.

For the East eighth graders, Teyla Williams placed fifth in the shot, and Kaedance Charon finished fifth in the 100 hurdles.

Ella Moodry placed second in the 100 and the high jump to lead the BC eighth grade girls.

Marc McGillen added a third in the shot put for the Maroon eighth grade boys. Jack Keeley took fourth in the high jump, and An Nguyen placed fifth in the shot put.
