Butte 100 will have new champion

A crowded field will compete in the annual Butte 100 Saturday morning.

In all a field of 250 riders will take part in the event, with 90 competing in the 100-mile race and 160 riding in the 50-mile event.

The race reached its capacity 12 minutes after signups began in March. This year’s field does not include Tinker Juarez, who won the last four Butte 100 races.

The 100-mile race begins at 6 a.m. Saturday. The 50-mile race starts at 8.

Following last year’s race, the Butte 100 donated $1,000 to Mariah’s Challenge.
