Butte 100 seeks volunteers

Volunteers are need to help put on the 16th Butte 100 Mountain Bike Race next month.

The race is set for July 23, and it starts and ends at Homestake. Athletes from 18 different states, Australia and Canada will compete among the more than 500 riders in the 100-mile race, the 50-mile race and the Sorini 25.

Volunteers meetings have been set for July 12 and 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Butte Brewing Company conference room. Volunteers must only attend one meet, and each meeting will include free pizza, salad and beer.

Volunteer shirts will be distributed and duties will be assigned at each meeting.

Volunteers are needed at aid stations, parking management, food services, bar tending, street crossing, set up/tear down, registration (on July 22), distribution of medals and finishing mugs, selling merchandise and tracking racers.
