The 2020 Butte 100 mountain bike race has been called off because of concerns with the coronavirus.
Race owner Stephanie Sorini confirmed the cancelation. This spring, she said she planned to go forward with the race, which was set for July 25.
“I’m so sad and devastated,” Sorini said. “I realize our Health Department has such a difficult job, but we really tried to make it happen.”
Sorini said she will put a notice on the Butte 100 Facebook page outlining the cancelation and the plan moving forward.
More than 300 riders took part of the 13th Butte 100, racing in the 100-, 50 and 25-mile races.
“I am truly so sad as I know the sacrifices our riders make for this race,” Sorini said. “I know we will come back bigger, better and stronger.”
