Burke drops 38 as Chiefs qualify for State

Leonard Burke had a game for the ages today, and the Ronan Chiefs will be playing at the Class A State tournament.

Burke, a 5-foot-11 senior, scored 38 points to lead the way as Ronan edged Frenchtown in a 62-59 thriller at the Maroon Activities Center. Burk made 13 of 19 shots from the field and hit five 3-pointers in the loser-out game. (Stats)

The game was tied at 26 at halftime, and the Chiefs too a 45-40 lead into the fourth quarter.

Elijah Tonasket added 10 points for Ronan (11-7), which will get a rematch with Butte Central in the 5 p.m. third-place game at the Butte Civic Center.

Brandon Finley scored 20 points to lead Frenchtown, which closes the season at 12-7. Wyatt Hayes tossed in 16, and Carson Shepard netted 10.
