Butte High will be the No. 2 seed in the Class AA football playoffs, Butte High activities director Chuck Merrifield confirmed Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (8-2) will play Billings Skyview, which beat Billings West Friday, or Helena Capital. The Bulldogs opponent depends on the outcome of Saturday’s Helena High-Helena Capital battle.
The Bulldogs beat Capital at home and lost at Skyview during the regular season.
Kalispell Glacier (8-2) is the No. 1 seed. Obviously, it would take two wins by the Bulldogs and a loss by Glacier in the first or second round for Naranche Stadium to host the Class AA championship game.
Great Falls Russell (8-2) is the No. 3 seed, while Helena High (7-2) is No. 4, according to the Billings Gazette. The Gazette says the Capital-Helena game doesn’t matter for the top four seeds. That, though, is not official.
The top four teams host first-round games in the eight-team playoffs.

October 27, 2012, 12:27 amHow can glacier be number two if butte is number 2? Senior didn’t beat west skyview did? How can the bengals seed be determined when they haven’t played the bruins yet?

October 27, 2012, 12:29 amIf Helena high loses tomorrow they will be the number 5 seed because they lost to west.

October 27, 2012, 1:26 amProbably a typo Glacier is #1 seed apparently because they only needed to beat Big Sky by 4, then it should be Billings Skyview.
Dont know why I was thinking the #2 seed was so bad all they need to do is win and hope Glacier loses one of the two and just like be back home for the Final.
Glacier might have their hands full if they get Capital up there and then possibly Helena what a matchup that would be. The Dogs get a rematch vs Skyview which will go from being 120 degree temps to maybe 20 and from the turf to the tundra that’s got to favor Butte. Second round possibly CMR again that would be something. Regardless of who wins it they are going to earn every bit.

October 27, 2012, 9:26 amIt going to be a grinder for all teams no matter how the seeds shake out. Home field will be huge for the dogs so hopefully it works out they get as high of a seed as possible.

October 27, 2012, 9:30 amSorry about the typos. I was working on Tech hoops while getting new info every few seconds about the AA. Glacier is No. 1 and Butte possibly could play Skyview, not Senior, which is done.
