Bulldogs take on Bison in Labor Day Weekend Matchup
Butte High Bulldogs are ready to take on Great Falls Bison tonight!

The Butte High Bulldogs head north tonight to take on the Great Falls Bison in a AA match up of two 1 and 0 teams.

Both teams opened the season with come from behind victories with big third quarter plays.  The Bulldogs were down 14-8 against Billings Senior at the half. They put up four 3rd quarter scores; including an 80 yard TD strike from Jace Stenson to Cade Stajcar.  The Bison were down 20-3 to the Helena High Bengals in the first half. They started the second half with an 80 yard kick-off return to start the come back to a 30-27 victory.

Butte High vs. Billings Senior Recap

Senior Quarterback Stenson led the Bulldogs with 242 yards passing and three touchdowns and also ran for a 39 yard score.    Butte High’s two freshman receivers, Cade Stajcar and Travis Luedtke, came up big in their first game.  Stajcar led the receivers with 113 yards on 4 catches, the biggest being that 80 yard strike.  Luedtke grabbed a pass by Stenson at the 10 yard line and bulled his way in to the end zone for his first score as a  Bulldog.

The Bulldog defense added some points with a Kale McDonald 50 yard interception pick six. The Bulldog defense tackled by committee with Luke Garrison and Ethan Cunningham making seven tackles, Zach Tierney and Isaac Kohler with six tackles, and five tackles each by Taylor Parks, Keaton Snyder and Aden Cuchine.

Great Falls Recap

The Bulldog “D” will need another strong team game tonight against the Bison running game. Rafe Longin is one to watch after he rushed for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns. Reed Harris, a Boston College football commit, started at quarterback but was replaced early in the game by Eli Pike. Harris moved to a receiver position.  Pike led the comeback and is expected to start tonight against the ‘Dogs.

Longin was also the leader of the Bison defense with nine tackles; one of which was a sack.  The secondary for the Bison grabbed two interceptions. Ryder English and Irish Furthmyre each grabbed a take away. The Bison are led by first year Head Coach Coda Tchida.
